Thumbs up StormLab 4.0.11 Available For Download

INITIAL 4.0 RELEASE THREAD (NEW USERS): (FOR UPDATES TO V4.0, SEE THE NEXT REPLY).
----------------------------

For new users to this forum, StormLab 4.0 upgrades for V3.x owners are available for purchase ($35 standard, $45 Supercharged). This fee of course is waived for those who purchased StormLab in full on or after May 1, 2006. We also have some great looking new CDs available!

In addition to V4.0, the long awaited new Auto-Download utility is also included in the download package. Thanks to Bryan Bollman for his great coding work...this surely has a lot more functionality then my old utility! If you need assistance on this utility, please post your support questions in the forum and Bryan will answer you there.

To upgrade from V3.x, download and install V4.0 from the link above. Simply follow the upgrade prompt when you launch the software and fill out the email as required to get the new registration codes. A purchase link, if required, will be included in that email.

Thanks again for your participation and we look forward to a very successful launch!

P.S. Don't forget to check out our partner site http://www.stormlabstuff.com for tons of downloads for StormLab 4.0!
P.S.S. Don't forget to check out our partner site http://www.allisonhouse.com for Level 2 radar data, real time lightning data, storm reports, mesoscale discussions, SPC outlooks, mesonet observations, tropical system tracks and MUCH MUCH more -- all integrated seamlessly into StormLab 4.0 Supercharged.

Thanks for your continued support!
Evan

We have released a update 4.0.11 with some AWESOME changes!!!

- StormLab now has the ability to render live data from 45 Terminal Doppler Weather Radars (TDWRs) installed at major airports across the country. A varierty of base and derived products are available from these radars, on both the free and premium servers!!
- You can now sample storm cell data while in archive mode
- Radar status messages moved to NWS server and now available for all radar sites
- Modified server status links under the Help menu
- County Name display default can now be set by zoom level
- New State and county shapefiles are installed with a better resolution.

For users with V4.0x already installed -- http://www.interwarn.com/stormlab_setup_ud-4.0.11.exe (about 6 MB)

* Don't forget to check out our partner site http://www.stormlabstuff.com for tons of downloads for StormLab 4.0!
* Also, don't forget to check out our partner site http://www.allisonhouse.com for Level 2 radar data, real time lightning data, storm reports, mesoscale discussions, SPC outlooks, mesonet observations, tropical system tracks and MUCH MUCH more -- all integrated seamlessly into StormLab 4.0 Supercharged.

------

Previous update 4.0.10 Changes:
- Custom overlays can now be set as "underlays" using the Underlay: tag as described in the custom overlay document
- Fixed server re-direct issue which prevented AllisonHouse Level II data from being received.

Previous update 4.0.9 Changes:
- Fixed problem loading Riverton WY and Los Angeles Regional composite caused by the addition of the Norman test bed several versions ago.
- Completed full ONDAS support to handle several new premium servers. The support for StormLab and AllisonHouse are growing rapidly and we appreciate all the new data servers who wish to support our product!
- Unresricted passworded URI access to handle Wright Weather premium server request for StormLab 4.0
- Improved error message provided with NWS HTTP mis-stamped data problem (hopefully they will have this corrected soon).

Previous update 4.0.8 Changes:

- Added sorting capability to the storm cell table. In horizontal mode, use can click any column header to sort the storm cells by that column (worst is first)

Previous update 4.0.6/7 Changes:
SuperCharged:
Increased place holding for Level 2 SuperRes data to handle size of Brownsville data due to Hurricane Dolly.

All Versions:
Newest data loads first, then previous data when loading a loop. Still some minor work to be done to auto-start loop, etc...but this should be an overall improvement in slow bandwidth situations.

Previous update 4.0.5 Changes:
Supercharged changes only.
1.) Minor improvements to rendering of SuperRes data.
2.) Better switching among level 2 data types as well as real-time updating of available tilts.

Previous update 4.0.4 Changes:
1.) Modified HTTP client to accept URL load-balancing per AllisonHouse request.
2.) Updated SWR.ini file with over 100 locations for METAR sampling.
3.) Integrated new "FixedText" custom overlay tag.

Previous update 4.0.3 Changes:
1.) Added code to handle the new "Super Resolution" data, which will improve Level 2 reflectivity resolution by a factor of 8, and velocity/spectrum width resolution by a factor of 2 on the Level 2 data. This is achieved by effectively improving the radar beam width to 0.5 degrees, and increasing the reflectivity bin resolution from 1km to 0.25km. Note, download sizes may increase by up to 3x and this may not be suitable for those not on high speed internet with average file sizes of 5-7MB. (This code also handles the new Dual Polarization variables for when that data becomes available). More information can be found here http://www.osf.noaa.gov/NWS_Level_2/..._21sep2007.pdf

NOTE: SuperRes data will only be available at the couple lowest elevation tilts.
NOTE 2: I have added the Norman Test Bed radar so that you can test SuperRes data. PLEASE NOTE THAT LIVE DATA FROM THIS TEST SITE IS OFTEN FED USING PREVIOUS TEST CASES. THUS, DO NOT BE SURPRISED TO SEE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ON THIS RADAR WHEN IT'S CLEAR OUT!
2.) Overhauled GPS icon for better visualization. Reduced icon footprint and provided a circle outline by request to improve it visually. Also, the GPS icon can now be sampled to give your latest GPS stats on screen.
3.) Had observed in some cases that incoming bandwidth was exceeding the write speed of the data, slowing down the ingest of data. Changed code for large string concatenations, which should improve the storing of level 2 data sets by a factor of 100 or greater as calculated.

Previous update 4.0.2 Changes:

1.) Fixed problem adding new locations to setup GUI in Vista.
2.) Execute program function under the screen capture settings no longer required images to be uploaded.
3.) Radar sampling defaults now work correctly.

Previous update 4.0.1 Changes:

1.) Updated GIS control to V4.5
2.) Updated software to allow customized overlays to be rendered as underlays (documentation for custom overlays has also been updated).
3.) Users can now configure the radar data to be stored in a unique location.
4.) Severe thunderstorm/tornado watch box sampling has been restructured so that it no longer goes off the screen (SuperCharged)
5.) Fixed error 76 generated when a user attempts to copy StormLab (and folders) to a new location.
6.) METAR sampling readouts now contain wind chill and heat index where applicable. (SuperCharged)
7.) Users can now click the pop-up (instead of just the "X") to close sampling pop-up windows.
8.) Updated location descriptions for a few dozen METAR sites. If you find METAR sites that do not have a plain English description when sampled, please let me know via email. If you have the data for this site, even better.
For example: Should look like KMCI - Kansas City International instead of KMCI -
9.) Install package now contains Bryan Bollman's radar auto-download utility (which has been updated to V1.1 with a more intuitive interface).
